ABOUT ME

I am a Cuban Art Historian and a Freelance  Independent Curator. I graduated from Havana University in 2007.  My research interest implies Cuban Art, Art Criticism, and Cinema.  My goal is to create curatorial projects that served as a research exercise to recover the historical memory of the island by organizing exhibitions in forgotten places, usually away from the circuit of galleries.

WHAT I'VE DONE

After graduating at University of Havana, I worked for 7 years at University of Arts (ISA) in Havana, Cuba. There I served as Instructor of Arts at  Department of Theoretical Studies, and Adjunct Professor at  Department of Cuban Studies. I tought Contemporary Art, Cuban Studies, Workshop of Art Criticism, and Cuban Cinema. I recently got a degree in Nonprofit Management at University of Delaware, USA.

WHAT I DO

I’m particularly interested in the configuration of Cuban cultural memory through Visual Arts.

The construction of cultural memory, as well as the distinction between alternative vs official arts, is important to understand the power of art to shape diverse political Identities. This is one of my current research focus based on films, video art, intallations and performance.
